Leading for Impact

The Bridgespan Group believes strongly in the power of applying strategic management tools to the challenges of the social sector. Highly effective nonprofit leaders and their teams are better able to make decisions and deliver results by:

  • Establishing a clear strategy,
  • Developing effective teams, and
  • Building the systems required for sustained impact.

The Bridgespan Leadership Program: Leading for Impact brings together executive directors/CEOs and one to three of their senior team members from 10-12 nonprofit organizations to build capabilities on these critical dimensions.

Now accepting applications for the New York City and Boston
classes of 2012

New York City and Boston area nonprofit leadership teams that are eager to refresh their skills, apply new tools to the challenges they are facing, and welcome the opportunity to exchange ideas with other senior leaders in the sector are invited to apply.

What will participants gain from this experience?

Leading for Impact is an opportunity to explore content and tools used by The Bridgespan Group in its work advising over 400 nonprofit clients, to apply those tools in meeting organizational priorities, and to do so in partnership with a select group of nonprofit leaders.

Diagnostic and Assessment: At the launch of the program, each team will complete a diagnostic to better understand their organizational strengths and challenges and to establish specific learning goals for the program year.

Strategic Management Curriculum: Core content modules will explore the skills leaders need to put vision into action: to establish a clear strategy, build and engage their teams, and course-correct as circumstances evolve.

Applied Learning through Projects: To bring these concepts to life and accelerate impact, each leadership team will complete a project that applies relevant tools to their own organization’s priorities.

Support and Coaching: All sessions will be designed to allow participants to learn from one another as well as from experienced Bridgespan managers selected for their deep understanding of the nonprofit sector and strategic management expertise. In addition to guiding discussion during class sessions, Bridgespan managers will meet with individual teams to provide coaching during the projects.
