Richard (Dickie)  Steele

Partner, New York

Dickie is a partner in Bridgespan’s New York office. He joined Bridgespan from Marakon Associates, where he had been a partner in their London and New York offices.

Dickie’s consulting engagements with US nonprofits include work with a Washington, DC-based advocacy group, a large faith-based health services network, and a high-profile tertiary education organization. In the UK he has worked on strategy development for an internationally recognized group of museums, helping to create an innovative public/ private partnership, and he led Marakon's relationship with Business in the Community.

His for-profit work has been even more varied, covering the consumer media, retail, fast-moving consumer goods, and banking sectors, with engagements in 14 countries including Brazil and India. Most of this work has related to questions of corporate strategy, profitable growth, and effective organizational change.

With the Economist Intelligence Unit, Dickie conducted a multi-year research program on strategic planning leading to co-authored articles in the Harvard Business Review, Sloan Management Review, and Harvard Management Update. His work has also been cited in The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, and Times of India. His published writing includes pieces on managerial behavior, corporate growth, and corporate social responsibility.

Educated in the UK and France, Dickie has a BSc from Durham University and MBA with Distinction from INSEAD. He lives in Manhattan with his wife and daughter.
