Alan Tuck joined Bridgespan in 2001 as a principal and became a partner in the Boston office in 2003. He was named head of the Boston office in 2005 and head of East Coast offices in June 2007.
Alan brings to Bridgespan more than 30 years of experience in strategic and operating leadership. He works with clients on issues of strategy and scale across a wide range of domains and has been particularly active with national networks serving the disadvantaged youth populations in America. He has co-authored several case studies available through the Bridgespan website.
In 2000, he retired from his position as chief strategic officer of Organogenesis, the first biotechnology company to successfully develop a living human skin replacement product. At Organogenesis, he was responsible for commercial relationships, financing, investor relations, and strategic direction. He has also served as president and chief executive officer of T Cell Sciences; vice President of marketing and business development for Biogen; executive vice president and chief strategic officer for Biocode; and chief strategic officer for ImmuLogic.
Before entering the biotechnology industry in 1987, Alan was a manager at Bain & Company. Prior to joining Bain in 1984, he spent 13 years in the diesel engine industry in various planning, marketing and management positions at Cummins Engine Company.
In addition to his position with Bridgespan, he serves on the Board of Directors of the YMCA of Greater Boston. He is also on the boards of Apogee Technology, Inc., an emerging nanotechnology company with particular emphasis on drug delivery; GTC Biotherapeutics, the first transgenic biotechnology company to earn regulatory approval; and The Turning Point, the leading customer loyalty company in the mortgage industry.
