Jehan Velji is a Partner in Bridgespan's San Francisco office. She joined Bridgespan from Mercer Management Consulting where she advised clients in a variety of industries on strategic and operational issues. She also worked on pro bono projects at Mercer in the social sector.
Since joining Bridgespan in 2002, Ms. Velji has worked with both non-profit and foundation clients, primarily in education and social services. She has helped her clients in the areas of strategic planning and going to scale. Her engagements have often included an emphasis on organizational issues, including board development, organization design, and executive transition planning as well as financial issues, including cost analysis and fund development planning.
Prior to Mercer, Ms. Velji worked as an internal auditor for Catholic Relief Services (CRS), a large international humanitarian relief and development agency. She was responsible for evaluating the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization's offices in over 17 countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. She worked with donors, management, and staff to ensure that humanitarian aid reached its intended beneficiaries.
Ms. Velji has served on the Board of Directors of FOCUS Humanitarian Assistance in Washington, DC. She has also worked with several nonprofits in Washington, DC, Boston, and San Francisco including Africare, The Older Women's League, Center for Women and Entrepreneurship, and Jewish Vocational Services.
Ms. Velji has a BA in Public and International Affairs from Princeton University, an MA in International Affairs from the Johns Hopkins School for Advanced International Studies (SAIS), and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
