Context

Our Piece of the Pie® (OPP) is a leading youth development agency that helps Hartford's young people, ages 14 to 24, become successful adults by promoting independence and economic success. In early 2006, OPP implemented a custom-designed performance measurement system to track program data, but almost immediately confronted challenges around potential data inaccuracy, time-intensity of data aggregation, and inability to easily combine program with financial and operational data. 

Bridgespan's Role

To ensure OPP could unlock the value of its investment without overwhelming staff, Bridgespan helped OPP chart the key decisions its management was facing, the specific data required to support those decisions, the most efficient process to supply this data in a timely manner, and supportive actions that could build a culture of data-driven decision making. 

Impact

Through the resulting changes to its performance measurement approach, OPP reported greater compliance among its staff, improved resource allocation and budgeting, significant data-driven program changes, and success using data to attract funding.
