Job Description:

Health Leads is seeking a seasoned professional to serve as Chief of Staff.  The Chief of Staff (“the CoS”) to the CEO and the President is a critically important role, enabling the C-Suite to execute on the work necessary to lead Health Leads’ organizational strategy and to work most effectively with internal and external stakeholders to fulfill their commitments to Health Leads partners, funders, and the Board of Directors. The C-Suite is made up of the CEO and the President who are a dynamic dyad working in close partnership with each other. This is a highly strategic and facilitative role that requires a combination of focus and flexibility, as well as a willingness to play an active role in driving culture. As the C-Suite’s  ‘trusted counsel’, the role requires a highly resourceful individual with high degree of emotional intelligence, self-motivation, and strong leadership, operational and mobilization skills.

 

This is a highly visible position central to the continued growth, efficiency and success of the organization and the right candidate is motivated by the thrill of a fast-growing organization and is excited to contribute to its vision while leading with a strategy-to-tactics approach to achieve it.  The CoS will direct C-Suite team members to manage the operations of the Executive Leadership Team, create and refine the functionality of C-Suite processes and systems interdepartmentally and cross-departmentally, and deploy the appropriate tools and resources to achieve desired results.

The Chief of Staff will join Health Leads at a thrilling moment in time, with the healthcare sector at a true inflection point. The sector has increasingly focused on addressing patients’ unmet social needs as a critical business, strategic, and mission-driven imperative. In this context, health systems, communities, philanthropy, insurers, policy-makers, and other key stakeholders are increasingly looking to Health Leads for expertise, tools, and solutions. The Chief of Staff will play a critical role in ensuring that Health Leads’ strategy and operations set the organization up to meet the incredible opportunity ahead in the market.

 

Ideal candidates are confident working with and managing up to senior executives; they have a commitment to social justice as well as a track record of managing complex operations. This position will report into the CEO, is a senior, full-time position with three direct reports.

Responsibilitie


  • Plan, direct, coordinate and evaluate C-Suite team operations and strategy
  •  Lead the development of team processes, communication and drive team priority setting
  • Manage and develop team operations staff and ensure the effective deployment of staffing resources within team
  • Work closely with the Executive Operations Associates to ensure the CEO and the President’s schedules and time allocations align with overall organizational strategy and current team priorities
  •  Work closely with the CEO and the President in managing Executive Leadership Team
  •  Support President and CEO on all organizational operations and projects
  • Interface with Executive Leadership Team members on operational work streams and strategy to most effectively leverage the President and the CEO
  • Support the planning and execution of organizational strategy
  •  Provide strategic guidance and partnership to the CEO and the President related to organizational strategy, operations and culture
  • Drive the flow of information across the organization and translate into team and organizational priorities
  • Represent the CEO and the President internally and facilitate work with other functional areas
  • Lead strategic organizational culture-related and all-org projects for the organization

Qualifications:

This role provides privileged access to the inner workings of Health Leads and to highly sensitive information. The successful candidate will be discrete, agile-minded, strategic, proactive, a direct communicator, highly-organized and committed to the vision and values of Health Leads.

  • Bachelor’s degree required, 15 years of operational experience required with at least 8 years of experience managing and developing people
  • Passion for the vision of Health Leads with a strong commitment to its core values: belief in collective strength and the power of shared work, constant and courageous learning, celebration of the organization’s and each other’s victories, and stepping up as leaders in a common vision
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and strong appetite to work in a startup-like environment, including high degree of flexibility, self-direction and optimistic approach to work
  • Exceptional strategic thinking and problem solving, including a track record of predicting and planning for the future in a dynamic environment
  • Capacity to develop and think critically about organizational systems for Health Leads

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Superb interpersonal skills, including sense of humor and ability to communicate with poise, professionalism, and discretion
  • Commitment to high-quality execution of work products and demonstrated ability to lead projects, meet concurrent deadlines, organize time and priorities, and collaborate with diverse stakeholders
