Job Description:

Oldways, a Boston based nonprofit organization (www.Oldwayspt.org) that inspires healthy eating and sound nutrition through cultural food traditions and lifestyles is seeking an experienced Director of Communications. Founded in 1990, the organization is best known for creating educational tools that promote the Mediterranean Diet Pyramid, the Whole Grain Stamp, for introducing olive oil into the mainstream American diet, and for promoting worldwide cultural heritage awareness through culinary tours. 

The Director of Communications is a management position responsible for leading, executing and managing the organization’s multiple communication initiatives to increase visibility and support for the organization and to promote its role as a thought leader in the field. Responsibilities associated with this position include, but are not limited to: designing and executing cost effective communication strategies, strengthening public and media relations, managing the organization’s website, blogs and other social media vehicles, serving as a spokesperson and liaison with formal nutrition networks and food industry partners, collaborating with the program team to develop and disseminate content and collateral materials that are of high quality and promote the brand and visibility of Oldways.

Qualifications:

A successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree with an advanced degree preferred; a minimum of five years of experience and a proven track record in marketing and communications, social media, public relations;  solid communication and interpersonal skills; supervisory experience; a commitment to the mission of Oldways; and the ability to work collaboratively with teams in a collegial environment, while understanding and managing the importance of positively and professionally representing Oldways with multiple internal and external audiences.  Applications must be submitted by May 1, 2017.
