He imagined the ideals of inclusivity, social welfare, and democratic principles supported and spread through the positive potential of sports. And so he founded a club that embodied these virtues, which has grown to become one of the biggest football clubs in the world.



Created in 1994, FC Barça Foundation is the organization through which FC Barcelona gives back to the global community that supports them. All the projects that are developed use sport as a focal point, principally, with the idea of promoting education and civic values amongst children and young adults in both Catalonia and in the rest of the world. Barça Foundation focuses its programs on prevention of violence, promotion of peace, social inclusion, access to schools, and reinforcement of the importance of education.

 

THE OPPORTUNITY

FC Barça Foundation is looking for an outstanding and motivated individual to lead the development efforts as Head of Fundraising and Partnerships.



The successful candidate will report to the Global Head of Fundraising & Campaigns (based in Barcelona) and the Managing Director for the US. Ideally this position will be based in the New York metropolitan area, but for the right person, other East Coast locations will also be considered. The Global Head of Fundraising & Campaigns will hold the following responsibilities:

  1. With the Foundation’s leadership, develop a robust and agreed upon fundraising strategy for individual gifts and donors in particular, Philanthropic and Corporate Foundations, and high net worth individuals HNWI in the US and North American market
  2. Execute the agreed upon strategy through research, identification, and development of new alliances to include the following activities:
    • Identify new and potentially suitable corporate and philanthropic partners – including HNWI – and appropriate contact persons within the requisite organizations. The output of this function will be: Build a pipeline of potential funders; Develop relationship map; Clarify appropriate prospecting approaches with various donor audiences
    • Secure first meetings and ongoing partnership discussions with senior level contacts, potential donors/prospects, and gain access to decisionmakers
    • Design, develop, deliver pitches and proposals for new corporate partners to expand existing partner opportunities
    • Lead the business development process from prospect identification to contract signature
    • Organize and participate in events that provide networking opportunities to build relationships resulting in a strong pipeline of funds
    • Explore and design potential future events that will elevate commitment to the Foundation and yield increased fundraising outcomes
    • Once the partnership agreement is signed, manage the partnership to build a sustainable win-win relationship that will deepen the relationship and grow partnerships
  3. Coordinate with the Head of Programs to identify opportunities to develop program initiatives in the United States
  4. In coordination with the Managing Director based in the New York office, represent and/or attend functions and initiatives relevant to and on behalf of the Foundation in North America

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

We are looking for a dynamic, self-starting, and dedicated person committed to executing the programming of the Barça Foundation's vision, mission, and passion of the FC Barcelona team members, coaches, and administration as follows:



QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in business, economics, marketing or similar relevant area
  • Specific training in fundraising
  • At least five years of experience in fundraising with various donor profiles in the US market


EXPERIENCE

  • Proven track record of communication, discussion, and negotiation skills at the highest levels
  • Proven competencies in the following areas: Strategic vision; High emotional intelligence; Results-orientation and execution; Influential and relational; Strategic communications
  • Proven success in fundraising programs with demonstrated financial results in the local market with potential to have global scale (and impact)
  • Willingness and availability to travel domestically and internationally with frequency
  • Language proficiency – native English and Spanish speaking required
