Volunteer Board Member
nccPA Health Foundation
Position Type: Board (Unpaid)
Primary domain: Healthcare
City: Johns Creek
Postal code: 30097
Country: United States
Certified PAs provide care and education in more than 473 million patient visits annually, and the nccPA Health Foundation is dedicated to advancing the role of certified PAs to improve health. This belief grounds our work to design scalable initiatives that advance the quality and accessibility of healthcare.
Our work includes equipping certified PAs and PA students through grant programs, tools, and resources to promote equitable care and to address mental health and oral health as part of whole-person care. The Board is exploring additional opportunities as well as efforts to advance, sustain, and raise awareness of the Health Foundation.
The Health Foundation is a 501(c)3 charitable nonprofit and a supporting organization to the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), the only national certifying body for more than 131,000 PAs in the United States.
The nccPA Health Foundation is seeking two new members to join its interprofessional Board of Directors: One Physician (MD or DO) and One Public/Community Member. The successful candidates are dedicated to the Health Foundation's strategic initiatives and mission to advance the role of certified PAs to improve health.
The Board of Directors leads the Health Foundation towards fulfillment of the organization’s mission and goals. Board members serve three-year terms (with the possibility of reelection for a second three-year term). Board members participate by determining our mission, vision, values and strategic goals; monitoring strategic progress; discharging a fiduciary obligation; ensuring sustainability; evaluating and improving collective and individual performance; and fostering alignment with NCCPA. The Board meets three times per year with conference calls, as needed, to maintain momentum between meetings.
Board members generally also serve on workgroups that primarily conduct their work via conference call or email to make recommendations to the Board or provide feedback to staff. Additionally, regardless of the level of support, all Board members are expected to be donors of record annually.
Consistent with its values, the Health Foundation seeks to be broadly inclusive of diverse experience, expertise, and professional perspectives. We are seeking a physician and a public/community member who will participate actively, sharing expertise to enhance our efforts.
During their term of service, Board members should be able to demonstrate their ability to effectively fulfill the Board Member Roles and Responsibilities and the Board Profile (visit https://www.nccpahealthfoundation.net/About-Us/Board-Leadership for additional information and the candidate information packet).
Candidates shall not be Board members or employees of an NCCPA participating organization or a PA organization or immediate family members of an NCCPA or Health Foundation Board or staff member. An individual who has previously served as a Director of the Health Foundation, the NCCPA, or the PA History Society, must be off that Board for at least three years before being eligible for election. All physicians serving on the Board must maintain at least one board certification throughout their tenure, unless they are retired.
While members of our volunteer Board of Directors do not receive any remuneration for their service, the nccPA Health Foundation does cover all travel expenses, lodging, and meals for meetings of the Board and committees.
