Job Description:

The Southampton Animal Shelter seeks a dynamic leader and experienced business manager to serve as its next Executive Director for its nationally recognized not-for-profit shelter located in Hampton Bays, New York. This is an opportunity to take the helm of an outstanding animal welfare organization and one of the most respected philanthropies on the East End of Long Island, and to lead it into its second decade.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will successfully lead SASF through its next critical phase of development. The Executive Director will provide leadership across all operations and programs, including management of staff, facilities management, day-to-day administration, financial forecasting and budgeting, human resources, training and behavior, adoptions, community outreach, marketing, and fundraising and development.

The Executive Director will also develop and maintain policies and procedures for all staff functions; ensure fiscal responsibility over budgeting and forecasting in collaboration with CFO/Controller; and maintain, develop and implement major fundraising initiatives through donor relations, grants and events. Working closely with the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will help to develop an overall strategy to achieve a long-term vision of expanding SASF to become an animal sanctuary and adoption center.

Qualifications:

The qualifications and experience that the new Executive Director should have include the following:

Strong and proven business management experience to provide leadership for a staff of 30

Successful experience reporting to a Board of Directors

Demonstrated executive level presentation skills

Expertise with a proven track record in fundraising

Excellent financial skills in budgeting and forecasting

Advanced computer skills

Strong oral and written communication skills

Ability to engage the public and serve as an effective ambassador and spokesperson

Experience in, or knowledge of, the animal rescue, adoption and welfare world preferred

An understanding and passion for the SASF mission

A creative, innovative and entrepreneurial spirit

Ability to think strategically

Benefits:

The salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience. Benefits include health insurance and three weeks paid vacation.

Salary:

$120k - 140k
