Coordinator, Government Relations

DEPARTMENT

The Government Relations team is charged with managing Lincoln Center’s relationships with agencies and officials at the local New York City, state and federal levels. We work to make Lincoln Center accessible for all people and advocate for governmental support of programs held on our Upper West Side campus as well as throughout the five boroughs of New York, the State and the country.

As the Coordinator, Government Relations you will play a key role in providing administrative and project management support to the Director of Government Relations, including in connection with increasing government expense and capital funding and growing awareness of our mission, among other things.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Specific day-to-day executive support to the Director of Government Relations, including but not limited to:
  1. Interfacing with elected officials and staff on behalf of Lincoln Center
  2. Providing logistical support for engagement strategies 
  3. Coordinating invitations to public officials and working with their advance teams regarding their visits
  4. Scheduling and preparation support for internal and external meetings
  5. Researching elected officials and the various agencies
  6. Working in conjunction with other staff members to support shared initiatives
  • Producing, assembling and distributing internal and external communications and materials such as briefing folders, program descriptions, letters, and emails
  • Assisting with Lincoln Center’s submission of various city, state and federal applications and reports, including funding requests and required lobbying reports
  • Maintaining all documents, databases, and systems used by the Government Relations team, and updating information as necessary
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned by the Director of Government Relations

Qualifications:

  • Entry-level position; 1-3 years of professional work experience, ideally in an administrative support role 
  • Experience in policy analysis, advocacy, fundraising, and arts/culture a huge plus
  • Professional experience in/with NYC government a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to juggle several projects at once with a spirit of flexibility and attention to detail
  • Ability to operate in a highly professional manner and serve as a steward for the organization
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively organize, prioritize, plan and execute
  • Ability to work efficiently and with accuracy in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
