Job Description:

Witt Kieffer is excited to share a search we have just launched with Arnold Ventures to identify a Vice President, Public Health.  Arnold Ventures strategically invests in sustainable change, building it from the ground up based on research, deep thinking and a strong foundation of evidence. Laura and John Arnold established the organization in 2010 with a straightforward mission: to improve lives through evidence-based solutions. The team has grown to over 90 subject-matter experts located in three offices and they have four key issue areas: Criminal Justice, Education, Health, and Public Finance. To date, Arnold Ventures has granted more than $1 billion, committing more than $350 million to grantees in the past year. The Chronicle of Philanthropy ranks Laura and John Arnold as 8th on their 2018 list of the top 50 donors.

Public Health has been identified as a key area in which Arnold Ventures can make a significant impact and are launching a national search to identify a dynamic, senior-level executive to lead this initiative in a newly created role. The Vice President, Public Health will be responsible for leading a dedicated team to build out and implement a high-impact philanthropic investment strategy for these portfolios. The Vice President will also have the opportunity to identify and pursue new public health investment opportunities.

The organization seeks a leader with significant public health experience who can demonstrate the ability to think creatively and strategically and understands and can articulate the multi-faceted, over-arching philanthropic strategy that needs to be established to effectively drive policy change. The successful candidate will have a proven record of producing meaningful improvements through grant making, policy and advocacy as well as experience in building, guiding and mentoring skilled teams. The position demands someone who can work collaboratively across the organization and can engage thought leaders and key influencers nationally in strategic discussions.
