ABOUT THE ROLE

The Executive Director will take TrueSchool to the next stage, driving forward our goals of expansion, enduring impact, continuous innovation, and long-term sustainability for the non-profit. In a position of top leadership, the ED is a critical ambassador of the organization. They serve as a thought leader and connector, spreading the organization’s vision and connecting with those working towards and supporting a shared vision of excellence and equity in public education.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Leadership

  • Invigorate team members through your authentic passion, thoughtful strategy, and determined vision

  • Develop strong organizational culture and team connection

  • Grow and leverage our board and professional network

Management

  • Hire and retain a team of A players with the right roles, at the right time, in the right seat

  • Lead a culture of continuous learning and improvement

  • Develop systems and structures for team excellence, accountability, and autonomy

  • Coach a management team, developing their ability to delegate to and develop others  

Strategy

  • Develop and drive forward a 3-5 year strategic plan in collaboration with the CEO + Board

  • Lead a team-wide culture of developing bold ideas, innovating, and co-creating solutions

Development + Expansion

  • Spearhead efforts to grow TrueSchool state-by-state, building buy-in among national + state leaders

  • Lead fundraising efforts, including strategy around diversification and sustainability,  stewarding existing funder relationships, developing new relationships, and pitching and securing new funding sources  


COMPENSATION

We offer competitive compensation and benefits commensurate with experience.  


SELECTION TIMELINE + START DATE

We anticipate interviewing in June and selection by August. Anticipated start date in late September/early October.

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years of work experience, including experience serving as a CEO/ED or in a top management role

  • Must possess a broad and deep network across education + philanthropy

  • Experience in K-12 public education AND business/non-profit management

  • Bachelor's degree required, master’s preferred
