Mission statement:

The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (MJFF) was founded in 2000 with one clear objective: finding a cure for Parkinson’s disease in our lifetime. The Foundation applies extraordinary scientific, business and media assets to this singular focus—thus creating a unique and dynamic organization. Since inception, MJFF has quickly grown into the largest nonprofit funder of Parkinson’s disease research worldwide, having funded more than $800 million in research projects in academic and industry labs worldwide. We exist to put ourselves out of business, so we deliberately hold no endowment but instead spend what we raise quickly and efficiently; 88 cents of every dollar spent goes directly to research programs. Core to our philosophy is how we think of our capital and its risk profile relative to other stakeholders in the drug development pipeline. We work aggressively to de-risk various treatment ideas and tools in the hopes of building a robust pipeline of new treatments for patients. Today, the Foundation has about 145 full-time employees.

Within MJFF, Research departments help support the Foundation’s mission of developing new and improved Parkinson’s therapies through four key activities: 1) increasing engagement and developing partnerships with various stakeholders, including bio-pharma, government, nonprofits and patients; 2) developing and managing clinical studies that inform drug development and disease understanding; 3) promoting data accessibility and sharing across the Parkinson’s and broad neuroscience community; and 4) integrating the patient experience and viewpoint across the research spectrum. This position is focused on supporting our efforts to integrate patients and volunteers in clinical research.

As a Product Manager, you will focus on democratizing cohort data and analytics to the broader research community including managing data platforms and data pipelines for the Foundation’s sponsored research. You will help envision, design, scope, manage, and deliver impactful data-related assets/products at scale. You deeply empathize with the user and cleverly leverage best-in-class technology. You are energized by partnership and close collaboration with both internal and external teams across clinical operations, informatics groups, analytics teams, researchers, and fundraisers. • Develop, negotiate, and maintain product roadmaps for study partners identifying features, specifications, and user experience for technologies ranging from mature to alpha stages
  • Advocate for the user by leading user research, running focus groups, and testing product iterations
  • Recommend technology investments, statistical methods, and practical solutions to scale Parkinson’s cohorts and data
  • Lead product launch (i.e., data sharing platforms) and growth tactics coordinating across internal Marketing, Communications, Development, and Research teams
  • Integrate deep considerations for research data governance, compliance, and patient privacy into cohort data management
  • Effortlessly code-switch between distilling technical complexities to less-technical audiences and translating clinical/scientific objectives into business requirements for developers

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in product development, technology management, or related coursework
  • 3+ years of experience in technology consulting, product management, analytics, data science, or related field
  • Action-oriented, diplomatic, agile, and proven team-advocate
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills consistently pointing to thoughtful metrics in support of strategy recommendations
  • Deep domain knowledge and interest in research participant data across patient-reported outcomes, ‘omics, imaging, and wearables
  • Proven understanding of user experience, product design, and usability
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills across mediums (i.e., presentations, poster, publications, team updates)
  • Innate ability to balance short-term urgency with multi-year research priorities
