Assistant Director of Faculty Recruitment

Temple University’s College of Public Health (CPH) is one of the largest and most comprehensive colleges of its kind in the country. It encompasses both traditional public health fields and clinical professions that influence the health and well-being of individuals and populations. The college consists of the Departments of Communication Sciences and Disorders, Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Health Services Administration and Policy, Kinesiology, Nursing, Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, and Social and Behavioral Sciences, as well as the School of Social Work.

CPH seeks an experienced and motivated Assistant Director of Faculty Recruitment to assist with the management of faculty searches from candidate sourcing and screening through appointment. The Assistant Director of Faculty Recruitment will report to the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and work in tandem with the Assistant Director of Faculty Affairs.

The Assistant Director of Faculty Recruitment will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive recruitment strategy for faculty searches that includes tenured senior researchers and administrators as well as early and mid-career tenure track, clinical, and instructional faculty. Strategies will include extensive internet and social media networking, email campaigns, external advertising, and working internally with department chairs to construct nomination/prospects lists. Some searches will involve coordination with external search firms.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to: conducting sourcing tasks including networking, social media, referrals/nominations, online publications and other electronic platforms; traveling to professional conferences for CPH disciplines and faculty recruitment events, as needed; coordinating expenses and overseeing external ad placement; assessing and screening candidates/applicants; working with departments to draft position descriptions; conducting reference checks and gathering relevant hiring documentation; creating and managing a system for candidates and applicants; creating reports, as needed; and, coordinating with staff in developing candidate campus visit itineraries. Other duties may be assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree and four years’ directly related experience, preferably within a national faculty/administrator search firm. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

*Demonstrated knowledge of current trends and best practices related to candidate procurement.

*Proven ability to build and maintain candidate networks.

*Demonstrated collaborative skills, along with the ability to build and maintain relationships with faculty, healthcare practitioners, and administration at all levels.

*Demonstrated organizational and prioritization skills, along with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

*Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

*Demonstrated customer service skills, which include responding to customer needs and requests in a timely manner.

*Demonstrated strategic thinking skills, with a strong attention to detail.

*Ability to handle confidential information.

*Must be able to travel locally, regionally and nationally, as needed.

*Demonstrated computer skills, and proficiency with MS Office Suite to include advanced skills with MS Word and MS Excel.

*Candidates with experience in a search firm setting for recruiting faculty and administrators for healthcare (nursing, occupational therapy, speech pathology, physical therapy) and research settings (clinical and rehabilitation sciences, health services, public health, social work, kinesiology) are strongly preferred.

*Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact with diverse populations of faculty, staff, and community partners

*Experience with candidate sourcing and the various methods and resources used to procure top level talent.

*Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented, and work under minimal supervision

*Excellent written and oral communication skills.

*Demonstrated self-motivation and attention to detail

*Experience in a university setting


*Experience in a national faculty/administrator search firm
