Center on Addiction merged with Partnership for Drug-Free Kids in January 2019 and is the nation’s leading science-based nonprofit dedicated to transforming how the nation addresses addiction. We empower families to support loved ones, advance effective addiction care and shape public policies that prevent and treat addiction as a public health issue. With headquarters located in midtown Manhattan, Center on Addiction is the only national organization committed to supporting the whole family as it addresses every aspect of substance use and addiction, from prevention to recovery.

Center on Addiction is seeking a dynamic and results-oriented professional to serve as an active and collaborative member of the development team. The Manager of Digital Fundraising and Special Events will work with the development team to conceptualize and implement an effective digital fundraising and special events strategy to raise awareness of our programmatic work to increase financial investments.

The Manager of Digital Fundraising and Special Events is responsible for online and peer-to-peer fundraising and coordination of our signature events. This position reports to the Vice President of Development, works cross-functionally with multiple teams across the organization and is responsible for developing effective online fundraising and donor relations strategies which include research, prospecting; donor cultivation, solicitation; events management with the ultimate goal leading to growth of events and donor revenue.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Vice President of Development, to develop and execute short-term and long-term strategies and goals to sustain and grow the peer-to-peer and events revenue streams while increasing donor relations;
  • Identify and implement opportunities to enhance digital fundraising performance, cultivate new growth opportunities and optimize ROI;
  • Manage all digital channels related to fundraising, in particular the peer-to-peer platform and social media fundraising strategies in coordination with the digital and social media teams;
  • Work with cross-departmental teams (development, digital and public affairs) to develop a plan and the tactics for a consistent and concerted online mobilization, outreach, fundraising and membership development with the goal of significantly growing online fundraising base in both number of donors and dollars raised;
  • Write and edit emails and web content, including calls to action and fundraising appeals. Work in close collaboration with development, digital and the public affairs teams to ensure consistency of voice, tone and messaging across all platforms;
  • Create and manage online fundraising initiatives including viral campaigns and virtual events especially as it relates to the peer-to-peer community;
  • Serve as an in-house manager for all cultivation and signature events including the annual gala;
  • Work to identify and secure sponsors for events; develop extensive portfolio of high value sponsorship positions available across events;
  • Create and maintain timelines and project plans to achieve flagship and special events revenue and engagement goals;
  • Coordinate all event logistics and ensure that each event runs smoothly and efficiently;
  • Manage vendor and venue logistics for all events ensuring every event comes in on budget;
  • Develop and execute list-building initiatives to identify ‘warm’ prospects;
  • Manage timely presentation and completion of engagement deliverables, including after-project reviews and regular status updates;
  • Distill complex information into clear, well-written documents for fundraising team, senior management and volunteer leadership;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

Required Skills:

  • Strong commitment to Center on Addiction’s mission;
  • Bachelor’s degree and 5-7 years’ progressively responsible experience and demonstrated success in raising significant income through digital fundraising and event engagement opportunities;
  • An in-depth understanding of the digital marketplace, particularly peer-to-peer fundraising;
  • Ability to write compelling online copy that converts readers to action-takers;
  • Strong hands-on experience with email marketing platforms (Luminate preferred), and demonstrated ability to segment, manage, update and distribute mailings to the lists within these platforms;
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills;
  • Understanding of quantitative data analysis, including experience and understanding of modeling and campaign effectiveness (i.e. ROI and optimization);
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, especially writing and content creation;
  • Demonstrated experience in managing detailed data accurately and database organization;
  • Possess an entrepreneurial spirit resulting in creative approaches to events, engagement and donor cultivation;
  • Ability to work with flexibility, efficiency, enthusiasm and diplomacy both individually and as part of a team;
  • Professional demeanor and judgement in handling confidential and sensitive donor information;
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects as priorities change, with an exceptional eye for detail and accuracy and focused on meeting all deadlines and performance goals;
  • Highly collaborative, communicative and transparent, with the ability to build strong and effective internal and external relationships.
