The PEAR Institute: Partnerships in Education and Resilience at McLean Hospital and Harvard Medical School creates and fosters evidence-based innovations in social-emotional learning (SEL) and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) in youth-serving organizations to help all students succeed. PEAR provides trainings and assessment tools that inform educational programs and professionals about program quality in schools and afterschool settings to help bridge the resource gap in high poverty and underserved communities.
The Senior Manager of Coaching and Training at the PEAR Institute will supervise a team of dedicated trainers and coaches who bring PEAR’s tools, frameworks, and services into schools and youth programs across the country in support of The PEAR Institute’s model of social-emotional development. The Senior Manager of Coaching and Training will also deliver training and technical assistance to schools and programs using PEAR’s student assessment tools to help them understand assessment results and use that data to design and implement strategies to support healthy development in young people.

We’re seeking candidates with significant work experience in public education and/or youth development settings as well as training and coaching. Principal Duties and Responsibilities
The Senior Manager of Coaching and Training at The PEAR Institute will lead and supervise a growing team of trainers and coaches to serve schools, out-of-school time and summer programs and youth-serving organizations in greater Boston and across the country. Overall responsibilities include:
- Supervise and support a team of coaches and trainers (including Project Managers) implementing PEAR’s tools and models across the country.
- Maintain and guide staff, providing onboarding and orientation, ongoing professional development in line with strategic goals, and creating opportunities for personal growth.
- In partnership with the coaching team, develop and implement a vision and goals for the department, and a plan to execute and evaluate the department’s work.
- Manage high-profile projects and service contracts. Contracts include public school districts in urban, suburban and rural communities, national out-of-school time organizations, and multi-faceted collaborations among others. PEAR works with a spectrum of schools from very low-performing to very high performing. This position requires an ability to understand and meet the needs of all schools.
- Work closely with Director of Operations to coordinate outreach and design service proposals for current and potential clients.
- Serve as member of PEAR’s senior staff advisory group and contribute to organizational policy and strategy.
- Deliver training, coaching and support (in person and remotely) to school and program staff for use of student data, as well as development of whole school/program, classroom, and individual intervention strategies and best practices.
- Contribute to the creation and updating of presentations and training materials, and monitor the fidelity of implementation.
- Contribute to research and evaluation projects related to PEAR’s tools and services. Research involves issues on the cutting edge of social emotional development among young people including trauma and resilience, cultural responsiveness, mental health, and transformational school change.
· Master's degree in a related field (school leadership, K-12 teaching certification, psychology, social work, mental health, school counseling or education) required.
· Minimum 8-10 years related work experience, preferably in public school or youth-serving organizations. Leadership and management experience in an education-related setting required.
· Commitment to value diversity of thought, backgrounds, and perspectives.
· Bi-lingual and/or bi-cultural a plus.
· Commitment to equity in education and a deep belief in youth leadership.
· Belief in the possibility of whole school change through the active engagement of faculty and staff.
· Interest in culturally responsive program design and implementation.
· Experience facilitating professional development meetings or trainings, including small teaching teams, whole schools and large conference settings.
· Awareness of the challenges facing students and teachers today including the impacts of social media, poverty and neighborhood neglect, immigration, systemic racism, gender and sexuality issues, mental health and substance use.
· Attention to detail, ability to show initiative and flexibility, meet deadlines, work independently and manage multiple priorities.
· Strong communication and people skills.
