Through continued service, Team Rubicon seeks to provide veterans with three things they lose after leaving the military: a purpose, gained through disaster relief; community, built by serving with others; and identity, from recognizing the impact one individual can make. ABOUT THE POSITION

Team Rubicon is seeking a Vice President of People Operations (VP, People Ops) with experience leading and developing a dynamic talent function in a high-growth organization to shape and drive Team Rubicon's human capital strategy and manage the systems, processes, and team that will accelerate Team Rubicon to the next level. Reporting to the President/Chief Operating Officer Officer (COO) and as a member of the senior leadership team, this person will partner closely with other departmental leaders to support and grow Team Rubicon's most valuable asset - its people.

This individual will manage a current team of seven people, who oversee full lifecycle talent acquisition and development, as well as human resources operations and benefits. This person will be responsible for continuing to build upon a strong culture and foundation in people operations while also serving as a key strategic advisor to the CEO and COO on organizational initiatives as it relates to supporting talent and culture.

The ideal candidate will be seen as a true partner to team members at all levels of the organization and demonstrate a sincere commitment to fostering individual and organizational growth. They will also be an important culture carrier for the organization, with an ability to both model and institutionalize Team Rubicon's values.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Team Leadership and Relationship Management

  • At the executive level, contribute to the organization's vision, strategy and cultural development. Lead with unimpeachable integrity everyday.
  • Develop and manage a high-performing team of talent professionals, holding team members accountable for achieving ambitious goals and ensuring they have opportunities for growth and development.
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders to ensure that team culture and standards are consistent and upheld across the organization.
  • Serve as an exemplary model for Team Rubicon's culture, consistently demonstrating and fostering its core values at all levels.

Talent Strategy and Management

  • Lead a multi-year talent strategy to support Team Rubicon's mission and growth, with an eye towards supporting near-term and long-term organizational goals
  • Oversee recruitment strategy to attract a robust and diverse pipeline of talented candidates for open positions, developing tools and training to support effective and equitable hiring
  • Coach and support managers throughout the organization on strategies for recruiting diverse and high-potential talent
  • Oversee the onboarding process to ensure new hires have a smooth and productive transition onto the team
  • Partner with the CEO, COO, and other organizational leaders to codify and implement Team Rubicon's performance management and leadership development practices
  • Lead effective and consistent implementation of performance management practices across the organization
  • Ensure ongoing opportunities for learning, coaching, and mentorship across the organization
  • Liaise with regional teams and partners to ensure consistent implementation of Team Rubicon's talent and culture standards

HR Operations

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws affecting staff
  • Serve as a resource for conflict resolution and mediation related to key HR issues or questions
  • Ensure benefits, payroll, and other aspects of the organization's human resources infrastructure operate with both exceptional accuracy and a strong customer service orientation
  • Conduct annual review of benefits provider and facilitate decision-making process, working with senior leadership/finance teams as necessary

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher (School of Hard Knocks will be considered).
  • At least 10 years' experience in talent and people operations including managing high performing talent teams and supporting organizational growth.
  • Track record of success in implementing high-quality talent management practices at complex, multi-site organizations.
  • Experience developing talent strategies and building the necessary systems and processes to operationalize these strategies at scale.
  • Superb written and oral communication skills, with experience communicating effectively in one on one and large group settings.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a track record of building strong relationships cross-functionally and across levels.
  • Strong people management experience; proven ability to foster teamwork and collaboration.
  • Understanding of and/or first-hand experience with Team Rubicon's disaster response mission, history, and capabilities.
  • Meticulous organizational skills; ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to build and maintain robust, scalable systems and processes.
  • Leadership experience; takes initiative and has the ability to work independently.
  • Unwavering ethics - a personal ethos of trust and respect above all else.
  • Emotional maturity and agility in working in a fast-paced environment.
