The Organization

The Center for Talent Innovation (CTI) is a New York based think tank that conducts research, builds community, and advises companies to design diverse, inclusive workplaces where every person belongs.

CTI currently works with 100+ companies, many in the Fortune 500, and is organized along three pillars:

  1. CTI’s Task Force of member companies – a community of global business leaders who are committed to diversity and inclusion
  2. Ground-breaking research and publications on the most important issues in diversity and inclusion
  3. Advisory services that drive change through the implementation of CTI research, many delivered via an affiliate company, CTI Advisory

This position is located in CTI’s large, bright office in midtown, though CTI aims to be flexible regarding work-from-home considerations. CTI is nonprofit, nonpartisan, and committed to the integrity of our research.

The Role

The Director of Finance will be responsible for financial reporting and analysis for both CTI and CTI Advisory (a combined $6M budget), including forecasting, business planning, and regular reporting to senior staff and board of directors. This role will advise senior staff on reallocation of resources based on trends in the numbers and will ensure the integrity of financial information. A strategic problem solver, the Director of Finance will serve as a thought partner to senior management and provide key decision support. This role will report to the executive vice president that leads operations and will manage a bookkeeper.

Responsibilities to include:

·       Manage core financial activities and processes

o   Review and close out monthly books

o   Track and manage A/R and A/P; manage invoicing process across all income streams

o   Ensure that contract billing and collection schedule is adhered to

o   Conduct dynamic cash flow analysis

o   Update the P&L and balance sheet in timely manner as set by leadership

o   Work closely with business leads to track and update income projections and departmental cost estimates

o   Assess organizational performance against budget and provide analysis of variances and trends as well as recommendations

o   Manage bi-monthly payroll process

·       Present financial reports to staff and board in an accurate and timely manner

·       Deeply understand and clearly communicate the story behind the numbers, identifying issues and implications and providing strategic guidance for resource reallocation

·       Manage bookkeeper

·       Drive annual budgeting and planning process in partnership with senior management

·       Conduct pricing analysis and issue recommendations for adjustments

·       Coordinate and support annual audit; liaise with external auditors and deliver requested documents, contracts, and schedules

·       Ensure accuracy and integrity of accounting data and financial reporting

·       Execute financial controls while maintaining streamlined processes and cost controls/savings

·       Work in collaboration with HR and other administrative functions to ensure smooth operations

·       Prepare and submit all state and federal tax filings for both organizations

·       Continue to develop and improve financial systems with an eye for automation and streamlining

·       Maintain GAAP standards

·       Oversee physical infrastructure (office space, leases, etc.)

·       Other responsibilities as required

Qualifications:

Requirements:

·       Demonstrated high skill in forecasting, tracking, and managing entire financial process

·       Excellent communications skills and the ability to collaborate with and translate financial concepts to colleagues who do not necessarily have finance backgrounds

·       Ability to interact confidently with the board around all numbers

·       Strong track record and acumen in staying organized and setting priorities

·       Keen analytical and problem-solving skills to support and enable sound decision-making

·       Collaborative and flexible style; a team player who is committed to lifelong learning

·       Able to maintain confidential information in confidence

·       Knowledge of nonprofit accounting a plus

·       Passion for CTI’s mission
