The National Council’s Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) department leads a groundbreaking public education program with more than 2 million Americans trained to-date. MHFA teaches people how to recognize and respond to mental health substance use challenges and aligns with the National Council’s full portfolio of public education, technical assistance and policy activities intended to promote healthy minds and strong communities. Position Summary

The AVP of MHFA is responsible for providing talent management to ensure an engaged, empowered, and effective MHFA team. The AVP works in every area of work to facilitate organization-wide communication and collaboration. The position provides leadership within the organization and the MHFA team that oversees accountability and continuous quality improvement.

Specific scope of work includes budget oversight, business operations, vendor relationships, instructor training, quality and engagement, and coordination of IT and HR.

Duties and Responsibilities

Talent Management

  • Serve as a mentor for all members of the MHFA team through cultivation of organizational values, promotion of Insights, cultivation of one-one team empowerment, and ….
  • Ensure that every component of MHFA is integrated into all the National Council and maximize communication and collaboration among departments.
  • Supervise of directors overseeing program and training operations as well as fiscal and IT oversight.
  • Oversee operations and employee productivity and accountability, building a highly inclusive culture ensuring team members thrive
  • Ensure effective recruiting, onboarding, professional development, performance management, and retention
  • Promote cross team training.
  • Facilitate department training and team development.

 

Operations Infrastructure

  • Develop, design and implement business strategy in an efficient manner.
  • Oversight of quality customer service in all business processes.
  • Oversight of vendor relationships including storefront and IT systems.

Instructor Support

  • Oversight of support provided to MHFA instructors resulting in program fidelity, quality evaluations of instructors, professional development, and maximization of First Aider classes.
  • Oversee innovative engagement strategies for working with Instructors and National Trainers
  • Ensure the quality of instructor data integrity.

Quality Improvement and Resource Management

  • Initiate ideas to improve all areas of the program
  • Ensure that team members have the resources needed to complete tasks.
  • Collaboration effectively with other AVP’s and represent VP of Public Ed as directed.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree in Business preferred but will consider related degree
  • 7-10 years of professional experience in a general management role, ideally in a rapidly evolving institution

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Outstanding track record of management a large business operation
  • Proven ability to an effective supervisor.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Data analysis knowledge
