About New Left Accelerator (NLA)

NLA runs a capacity building program to support hybrid organizations (i.e. organizations that use 501(c)(4)s, LLCs, and PACs, in addition to 501(c)(3)s).  NLA operates the only Accelerator Program designed expressly to help progressive hybrid organizations build power and influence.


Currently, NLA runs a 20-month Accelerator Program that supports eight progressive power-building organizations. In addition, NLA oversees pilot programs in Wisconsin, Arizona, and Georgia that collaborates with state ecosystems leaders to build infrastructure to support and scale 501(c)(4)s work in the state.  You can read more about the programs here and here.


NLA has a national team with extensive backgrounds in operating accelerator programs and providing organizational development, strategic planning consulting, leadership coaching, and technical assistance.  We work in partnership with RoadMap, a nation-wide network of diverse consultants with deep experience in equity and social justice work, to co-design and run our Accelerator Program.


All of our work is designed in partnership with leaders and staff to meet the unique needs of each individual organization or state ecosystem.  Our programs are highly collaborative, leveraging the strengths and extensive knowledge of leaders and partners, and centering deep collaboration.


NLA has a 501(c)(3) called The Capacity Shop (TCS).  This position will share time between NLA and TCS.

This position is a remote position.


About the Role

As NLA grows and scales, the organization is seeking its first Program and Operations Associate to support the leadership team.  The Associate will work closely with the Executive Director and the Director of Operations & Acceleration to provide administrative support to NLA’s programmatic, fundraising, and operational efforts.  As part of a small team, the Program and Operations Associate plays a critical role in the future of the organization and will have the opportunity to learn about nonprofit program and organizational management as well as capacity building in hybrid organizations.  This is an early-career opportunity for someone that wants to learn, grow and be a part of an entrepreneurial, roll up your sleeves, all hands-on deck organization.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support for NLA’s accelerator and technical assistance programs including scheduling meetings, coordinating scheduling and information sharing between parties, drafting meeting materials/agendas and other documents (as needed), managing follow-ups and next steps, etc.

  • Manage and maintain the organization’s database system and other technology tools including updating contact information and listservs, organizing and storing digital files, and generating reports.

  • Work with the Operations Team to manage and track consulting agreements, contracts, and other deliverables. 

  • Assist with special initiatives and projects as needed, including coordinating document collection and review for our values-based HR policy project.

  • Work collaboratively with individual leadership on other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


Qualifications

  • Strong commitment to progressive values and NLA’s mission and organizational values.

  • Three to five years’ of professional experience required; experience working in a non-profit, campaign and/or mission-driven organization preferred.

  • As problems arise, communicate with the appropriate team member, be flexible and adaptable, and make course corrections, as needed.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities, multi-task, and address time-sensitive projects in a professional and responsible manner.

  • Demonstrated ability to utilize a wide range of technology and systems including databases and Google Suite tools.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, values-driven, team-oriented environment with diverse stakeholders 

  • Flexible, adaptable and able to engage in independent and creative problem-solving.

  • Team player and collaborative in nature.

  • Highly organized with demonstrated attention to detail.


Nice To Haves

  • Experience with political campaigns, independent political organizations, 501(c)(4)s  and/or movement building.

  • Prior project management experience.

  • Experience with fundraising administration or an interest in learning about fundraising and donor management.

Compensation

New Left Accelerator offers competitive salaries commensurate with experience and geographic location, along with a benefits package that supports our employees’ overall well-being.  The salary range for this position is between $50,000-$60,000, and we cover 75% of employee health benefits costs.
