The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (MJFF) was founded in 2000 with one clear objective: finding a cure for Parkinson’s disease (PD) in our lifetime. The Foundation applies extraordinary scientific, business and media assets to this singular focus — thus creating a unique and dynamic organization. Since inception, MJFF has quickly grown into the largest nonprofit funder of Parkinson’s disease research worldwide, having funded more than $900 million in research projects in academic and industry labs worldwide to date. We exist to put ourselves out of business, so we deliberately hold no endowment or excessive reserves, but spend what we raise quickly and efficiently; 88 cents of every dollar spent goes directly to research programs. Today, the Foundation has about 160 full-time employees.

We work aggressively to support the entire Parkinson’s therapeutic development enterprise by de-risking specific therapeutic approaches and developing and distributing fieldwide tools, in order to seed and support a robust pipeline of new treatments for patients. Achieving our mission requires that we inspire the engagement of all Parkinson’s stakeholder groups — industry and academic researchers, clinicians, data scientists, policy makers, and most important, people and families living with Parkinson's. In service of this mission, the Marketing & Communications team works to leverage the Foundation’s tremendous research achievements and highly respected brand identity in service of our mission to speed better treatments and a cure for Parkinson’s.

The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research is seeking a Vice President, Marketing Strategy & Operations. Working closely with the Foundation’s executive leadership team and other VPs in the Marcomms group, the VP, Marketing Strategy & Operations will lead and manage a high-performing team of marketers and automation/analytics specialists working to grow, engage and convert audiences to the Foundation’s core objective CTAs.

Unusually for a foundation, MJFF’s business goals go beyond seeking financial support to include critical non-financial, research participation-oriented CTAs. Our core objectives include finding and persuading audiences to participate in Parkinson’s research studies and to advocate with policymakers, in addition to donating/fundraising. Along the way, multiple marketing touchpoint opportunities extend the invitation to be part of a nationwide and worldwide community of people touched by the disease and to benefit from a robust suite of high-quality educational events and materials.

The VP, Marketing Strategy & Operations will lead a talented team of marketers working to oversee, evolve and optimize integrated, results-driven multi-channel digital and non-digital marketing campaigns. MJFF has made significant investments over the past decade in building a sophisticated marketing infrastructure in pursuit of organizational business objectives. Our talented communications, content and marketing strategists are responsible for advancing the Foundation’s mission through world-class marcomms programs.

However, there remains a need for a senior-level, experienced marketer to lead the efforts of the team to develop and execute the day-to-day marketing vision and strategy with the goal of continually increasing audience development, engagement and conversions at every stage of a Parkinson’s journey. The VP, Marketing Strategy & Operations will manage a team of internal FTEs, as well as leveraging and optimizing the contributions of agency teams.

A quantitative and strategic marketer, the VP, Marketing Strategy & Operations will bring a minimum of 15 years of experience in marketing communications and will evolve the Marketing & Communications strategic vision by partnering with teams across the Foundation, including web development, fundraising, research programs and clinical trial recruitment. The ideal candidate will bring a proven ability to manage and lead a team in connecting dots and advancing integrated strategies that deliver tangible results. The ideal candidate should be forward-thinking with extensive analytical skills, creativity and a client support mindset.

Responsibilities include:
•    Develop and oversee narratives and frameworks to articulate marketing strategy for the next phase of audience growth, engagement and conversion driven by specific and measurable constituent analytics.
•    Work closely with the VPs of Communications and Brand Marketing, as well as with Fundraising and Research leadership, to develop and execute multi-channel campaigns that target messaging to specific audience segments and platforms.
•    Manage the Direct Marketing group to ensure continual optimization of marketing channels including email, social, search, Web, display/native, and event marketing to efficiently meet KPIs around audience growth, engagement and conversion metrics.
•    Manage the Marketing Automation & Analytics team to ensure our marketing technology roadmap supports campaigns for increased growth through segmentation, A/B and multivariate testing, and creative optimization.
•    Oversee Marcomms’ partnership with the Foundation’s Project Management Office (PMO) group to bring continual improvement to marketing operations.
•    Own KPIs to evaluate the ROI of online marketing investments; lead on recommendations for better marketing analytics tools. 


Desired Skills and Experience:
•    Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degrees a plus.
•    15+ years traditional marketing experience and leadership in a consumer environment
•    15+ years of demonstrated success building large and integrated digital marketing programs and assembling and managing timelines and budgets
•    Track record of progressively responsible marketing experience including managing/mentoring talent and onboarding/overseeing agency contributors
•    Deep knowledge of SEM/SEO, social and email marketing as well as a working knowledge of current and emerging trends and technologies.
•    Strong analytic skills; comfort and experience working with marketing analytics tools
•    Working knowledge of Salesforce/Marketing Cloud, DOMO, Asana, JIRA and email marketing platforms a plus.
•    Experience managing people and teams, with a track record of providing guidance, mentorship and oversight that brings out the best in talented people
•    Disciplined work approach — creating written plans and employing/innovating tools, templates and technology to efficiently capture outputs, replicate workflows and distill learnings for continual improvement

•    Passionate about data and marketing technology, with an ability to assess, formulate and deliver data-driven marketing solutions.
•    Appreciation for the creative side of marketing, including understanding the importance of positioning, messaging and visual language to reach a wide range of audiences for different calls to action
