1. Provide crisis counseling to LGBTQ young people thinking of suicide.

3. Educate young people and adults who interact with young people on LGBTQ-competent suicide prevention, risk detection and response.
4. Advocate for laws and policies that will reduce suicide among LGBTQ young people.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:
The Trevor Project is the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ young people. We are a nonprofit that provides 24/7 life-saving support via phone, text, and chat crisis services. We also operate the world’s largest safe space social networking site for LGBTQ youth and run innovative research, education, and advocacy programs. We’ve been saving lives every day for over 22 years.

 

ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Vice President of Marketing is a new role that will oversee all of The Trevor Project’s marketing channels and growing number of campaigns to advance the organization's mission to support LGBTQ youth. As a true brand leader, this role will help set the vision and lead the charge to ensure Trevor establishes an inclusive and effective external presence and promotes the organization’s life-saving crisis services using a suite of channels directly connected to LGBTQ youth and their supporters. Working closely with the Growth team and key program areas, the role will lead digital-first campaigns focused on public awareness and education to support LGBTQ youth mental health and suicide prevention. This role will also collaborate with our corporate, nonprofit, and NGO partners, ensuring LGBTQ youth, suicide prevention, and mental health are front and center. The VP of Marketing reports directly to the Chief Growth Officer and will have the opportunity to build their own team of experts to oversee Trevor's owned platforms, campaigns, and marketing partnerships.

Qualifications:

What you’ll do:


  • Proactively develop the organization’s marketing strategy in service to current and future growth projections.

  • Roadmap, hire, and manage a high-performing team to execute on various goals you’ve either created or helped establish.

  • Work directly with key program areas (crisis services, peer support, research, education and public awareness, and advocacy) to lead and execute a larger number of campaigns that elevate their work helping to save young LGBTQ lives.

  • Collaborate with the Creative and Communications teams to craft marketing collateral that’s inclusive of all LGBTQ youth, including those who are at the highest risk for suicide attempts, such as transgender and nonbinary youth and LGBTQ youth of color.

  • Provide marketing planning and implementation support to Trevor’s corporate, nonprofit, NGO, and vendor partners to extend our reach to new LGBTQ youth audiences. 

  • Oversee the planning and execution for Trevor’s promo channels, including organic social media, in-kind media donations, email marketing, and paid promotions across numerous platforms, as well as related metrics reporting. 

  • Develop acquisition/growth, engagement, and retention strategies for all owned platforms (e.g., social, website, email, text) with benchmarking embedded from the start.

  • Conduct annual market research, including the organization’s brand awareness, brand equity, and perception of our crisis services. 

  • Monitor any market trends, emerging platforms, or new policies that affect how we reach our key audiences.

  • Closely monitor our peers, learn from their successes, and where they might occasionally miss the mark.

  • Develop and monitor quarterly budgets for marketing initiatives, as well as goals for the marketing team. Assist the Chief Growth Officer in goal-setting for the broader Growth team.
