Cooperman College Scholars is a program overseen by Together Education, a nonprofit incubator whose mission is to catalyze enduring, equity-driven, scalable solutions to our most pressing education challenges.  


Program Description

Cooperman College Scholars is a non-profit program that supports academically talented, highly motivated Scholars with financial need from Essex County, New Jersey, in their efforts to attain a four-year college degree. After admitting Scholars to the program in their junior year of high school, Cooperman Scholars provides a scholarship to attend college, pre-college application support, mentoring and other resources to ease the transition to college and support each Scholar’s success through graduation.  This past spring, Cooperman College Scholars graduated its first cohort from college and welcomed its seventh cohort of high school juniors who will begin their Cooperman College Scholars experience this fall.


Position Summary

The Data Analytics and Insights Manager will provide essential support to the members of the Cooperman College Scholars team by managing the data we use to support Scholar recruitment and selection, college access, and ultimately college completion. This person will help to improve organizational effectiveness by maintaining real-time, accurate data, improving efficiencies in data tracking, regularly reporting on (and helping the team to understand) emergent trends, and using these insights to help inform organizational policies and practices. The right person for this role is a data specialist who can crank through complex data sets, analyze trends quickly, and make sense of them, while also being a  mission-driven, energetic team player eager to help build a one-of-a-kind college access scholarship program transforming the lives of hundreds of young people each year.

What you will do:

The Data Analytics and Insights Manager will collect, manage, and analyze data for the Cooperman College Scholars team as it provides high-touch support to Scholars in a number of key programmatic areas. They will lead our team in generating and understanding important trends related to Scholar achievement and progress and will play an essential role in helping to extend our organizational knowledge.  More specifically, the Data Analytics and Insights Manager will:

  • Manage all data processes related to the Scholar Recruitment & Selection and College Success elements of our program, including importing and refining data sets from applicants, high schools, and college partners, evaluating changes or trends in demographic data, and troubleshooting integration issues between databases; 

  • Design, develop, and manage best-in-class data dashboards for Recruitment & Selection, College Prep, and College Success programs based on key performance indicators to be developed in partnership with the Cooperman Scholars Director of College Prep, Director of Strategic Projects & Evaluation, and the Executive Director;

  • Provide expert guidance to help build surveys, interview protocols/methods, and other tools for collecting quantitative and qualitative performance data in order to analyze and understand what is working and what can be improved further; 

  • Help us identify Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and build systems for tracking organizational progress towards those goals; and

  • Contribute in important programmatic ways including supporting and building strong relationships with Scholars, participating in Recruitment & Selection events, working with Scholars to build data analytical skills that will be useful in college, and other projects based on individual interests.

Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree;

  • At least three (3) years of administration experience (data integration, field management, workflow management, mass data imports, data management & cleanup, report and dashboard design and execution) in a Student Information System (SIS) or CRM database such as Salesforce, Slate, PeopleSoft, etc.;

  • Experience turning both qualitative and quantitative data into reports and infographics; 

  • Advanced skills in Excel; and

  • Experience with regression modeling and software such as SPSS, SAS, or Stata (or strong interest in learning regression software);

  • Experience with data visualization software such as Tableau a plus;

  • Familiarity with GSuite and Google Applications;

  • Ability to organize, manage, prioritize and complete multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment;

  • Experience working in education, higher education, or college access a plus!
