GiGi’s Playhouse was created to change the way the world views a Down syndrome diagnosis and send a global message of acceptance for all. There a 50+ GiGi's Playhouses across 23 states that provide an array of therapeutic, educational, social and support services to 25,000+ individuals with Down syndrome. GiGi’s is at the forefront of driving innovation for the disability community. For example, GiGi’s has partnered with Microsoft’s AI practice to help develop a physical therapy regiment to address hypotonia, a common condition associated with Down syndrome. Moreover, GiGi’s created a virtual platform (“GiGi’s At Home”) through which to deliver its services to complement its bricks & mortar locations in light of COVID. GiGi’s At Home already has a programmatic reach of thousands of end-users located in 20+ countries across 6 continents. GiGi’s is 99% volunteer run and delivers over 200,000 hours of services per annum, 100% of which are free of charge to families.

Job Description:
The Executive Board of GiGi’s Playhouse is twelve member governing body charged with providing oversight of the executive leadership team and strategic direction for the organization. Gigi's is a high growth non-profit with national reach but local impact. It is a well-established non-profit that is well funded yet has retained a start-up, high growth orientation that encourages innovation and piloting creative ideas. Executive Board members provide input across a range of organization dimensions, including strategy, finance, development, marketing, technology and governance. The Executive Board meets 4-6 times per year, and at other times via committees. Board meetings are held in person (and virtually) at its corporate office in Hoffman Estates, IL, a suburb of Chicago. While most Board members live in the Chicago area, a growing number live out of state and geographic proximity is not a requirement.
Qualifications:
Candidates need to have i) significant professional experience and strategic acumen commensurate with a board director role, ii) an emotional connection to the mission, and iii) bandwidth to invest the time to make an impact.
