Job Description:

The Board seeks to develop a strategy and find the resources to enable the organization to significantly build its capacity to provide a level of service that more adequately addresses the changing needs of Villages. We plan to add staff and engage more volunteers to work on Network initiatives and build our services. To do so we must diversify revenue sources to achieve a greater degree of financial stability and sustainability. We need to achieve a clearer recognition of the value of Villages by policymakers, community thought leaders and the public.

As the leadership, governance and oversight body for the organization, the Board has the following responsibilities: 1) develops strategy and organizational plans, 2) ensures sound fiduciary oversight and financial management, 3) raises funds and develops partnerships, 4) approves and monitors Network programs and services, 5) promotes the Network, 6) selects and evaluates the performance of the Executive Director, 7) maintains effective governance practices.

Directors are encouraged to take an active role in accomplishing the work of the Network. This means chairing a committee, participating in committee work, and/or taking on specific task assignments to support Network programs and services. Directors are expected to play an active role in securing the financial resources necessary for the Network to achieve its mission by helping the Development Committee identify and solicit potential funders and develop strategic partnerships. All Directors are expected to make an annual contribution commensurate with their ability to do so.

The Board meets monthly and serves without compensation. Directors serve staggered terms of three years and are eligible for one additional three year term.

This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about the work of Villages and motivated to further their development.
