Hayward Collegiate’s mission is to give scholars the power to have agency over their lives. Currently, Hayward Collegiate is serving 116 students in kindergarten through second grade, but will grow to serve grades K-6 in the South Hayward community.

OPPORTUNITY

Hayward Collegiate is seeking a Founding Vice Principal, who will partner with the Leadership Team to help staff perform at their best for all scholars. This is particularly a good fit for someone who has an orientation towards action, analytical rigor, and is excited to build Hayward Collegiate from the ground up.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities of the Vice Principal include: 

  • Working closely and collaboratively with Hayward Collegiate’s current Executive Director/Founder and administrative team; 

  • Operating across the full spectrum educational needs around student performance management, decision making, and strategic grade-level planning; 

  • Coaching, building, and managing staff through observations, team meetings, and other high-frequency touchpoints with teachers while using a strong cycle of feedback;

  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with all stakeholders (students, faculty/staff, parents, leadership), ensuring transparent lines of communication at all times, and addressing issues and concerns in a timely and constructive manner.

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS

In order to fulfill these responsibilities, the ideal Vice Principal candidates will have:

  • A bachelor’s degree and valid teaching credential (required);

  • A minimum of four years of teaching or leadership experience (required);

  • Two or more years of experience coaching or leading teachers (e.g. grade level chair, content/department chair, Assistant Principal, Dean of Curriculum, etc.) (highly preferred);

  • Strong commitment to meet challenges with optimism and a solutions-oriented mindset;

  • Successful classroom management experience, including being someone who firmly believes that a structured environment and high behavioral expectations for all students lead to student achievement.
