Campus Election Engagement Project (CEEP) is a national nonpartisan project that helps administrators, faculty, staff and student leaders at America’s colleges and universities engage students in federal, state and local elections, working to promote a more equitable and inclusive democracy, and to overcome the ever-changing barriers to voting.
ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
Founded in 2008, Campus Election Engagement Project (CEEP) is a national nonpartisan organization that gets students at America's colleges and universities to vote, working to overcome the ever-changing barriers to their participation in a more equitable and inclusive democracy. CEEP does this by helping administrators, faculty, staff and student leaders engage students in federal, state, and local elections, particularly in states where their votes can matter most. With support and guidance from our state directors and student Fellows, our schools help their students to register, volunteer in campaigns, educate themselves on candidates and issues, navigate confusing voting laws, and turn out at the polls. In 2018, CEEP proudly played a part in doubling student turnout from 2014. In 2020, we worked with 609 colleges with a total enrollment of 6.4 million students and were part of the youth vote increasing a projected 10 points from 2016. Individuals who vote when they're young tend to continue and CEEP helps schools deepen their electoral engagement each cycle, generating both immediate and long-term impact.

ABOUT THE POSITION
After driving meaningful impact for over a decade, CEEP is seeking a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the organization into its next phase of growth and development. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will establish the strategic direction to allow CEEP to continue to expand and grow, building the organization's infrastructure and leading CEEP's team to achieve continually greater impact in engaging schools and their students in the election process. The CEO will also serve as the organization's lead storyteller and revenue generator, strengthening relationships with existing donors and cultivating new donors to grow its budget. This is an exciting opportunity for an innovative organizational leader who is energized to mobilize students to engage in our democracy.
CEEP is open to flexible location within the United States for this position.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Organizational Leadership and Management:
In collaboration with the board, establish CEEP's strategic vision and plan, with a focus on continued growth and expansion of the programmatic model
Oversee all day-to-day operations and staff, with ultimate accountability for the success of the multi-site organization
Build, mentor, and inspire a high-performing and diverse team, hiring and developing key talent to effectively advance CEEP's mission
Develop and manage CEEP's annual budget
Create and codify necessary internal systems, processes, and resource prioritizations that will let CEEP thrive in major election cycles, while still allowing for stability and meaningful impact off-cycle
Act as primary liaison to the Board of Directors and participate as appropriate in board meetings
Build and enhance CEEP's culture, with a specific focus on ensuring that the lens of diversity, equity, and belonging are woven into the organization's ethos
External Leadership and Fundraising
Serve as the external face of the organization, enhancing CEEP's visibility, brand recognition, and credibility
Drive fundraising to meet current annual goal of approximately ~$2 million and grow the budget over time--knowing that fundraising is easier in major election years and harder in off-years.
In partnership with the board and key staff, create and cultivate relationships with major donors (individuals, corporations, and foundations), building a broad base of support and a network of champions for CEEP's work
Ensure thoughtful transition and engagement of CEEP's existing donors as they move from the founder to the CEO
Develop and manage strategic relationships with key partners (peer organizations, funding partners, colleges and universities, etc.) to deepen CEEP's reputation and advance its mission
Serve as a thought leader and advocate in the field of student voting engagement, collaborating with leading thinkers and contributing to the growth and success of the movement
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications: Commitment to and passion for the mission and work of CEEP
At least 15 years of professional experience, with a minimum of five years in a senior leadership position
