THE ROLE IN A SENTENCE

Reporting to the Vice President of External Affairs, the Director, Development will manage and implement a diverse donor pipeline from cultivation to reporting.  The Director, Development will provide guidance and strategic advice to our national and regional leadership teams in achieving funding goals through individual, corporate, and foundation gifts.

ROLE OVERVIEW

DEVELOPMENT OPERATIONS: (70%)

• Direct the annual funding program, including identification, cultivation, and solicitation of major donors to raise progressively larger operating budget.
• Oversee grant seeking including research, proposal writing, and reporting requirements
• Oversee prospect research, fundraising database and tracking systems
• Support senior leadership and regional teams to identify, solicit, and manage public/private foundation grants
• Develop a funding strategy to include individual, corporate, and foundation gifts

EXTERNAL AFFAIRS: (20%)

• Meet prospective donors and supporters on a continual basis to establish effective communications with them
• Grow a major gifts program including identification, cultivation, and solicitation of major donors
• Work with senior leadership and marketing team to create funding collateral (annual report, funding decks, etc.)
• Design and implement events that elevate the organization’s mission and programming

 GENERAL MANAGEMENT: (10%)

• Establish and maintain financial controls related to development
• Participate in team meetings and collaborate with teammates vertically and horizontally on special projects 
• Help build organizational culture and embody Latinos for Education core values

 

Qualifications:

OUR PERSON

Required:

• Total years of experience: 10
• Years with functional expertise: 5-7
• Knowledge of the national funding ecosystem

Preferred:

• 5+ years fundraising for education nonprofits
• Relationships with funders in TX, MA, or CA
