The turning point: Bernie Marcus committed to philanthropy after seeing its ability to help save lives
When a young employee shared that he was dying of cancer, Bernie Marcus connected him to City of Hope. After City of Hope saved the young man's life, Marcus asked to join the organization's board. That started a life-long dedication to philanthropy.
