How to Build an Organisational Development Plan Resources

This toolkit helps funders and NGOs to address the challenges they face in assessing organisational development needs. It was developed in partnership with five leading Indian intermediary organisations: Dasra, the Dhwani Foundation, Samhita Social Ventures, Sattva, and toolbox INDIA Foundation. All have extensive experience advising NGOs on their organisational development needs.

Research has highlighted the need for India’s NGOs to have access to more financial and advisory support to build their organisational strength and resilience. Thus, we collaborated with a number of funders and intermediaries to develop an organisational development (OD) toolkit to help NGOs and funders address the multiple challenges they face in assessing and funding OD needs.

The toolkit includes two documents:

  • How to Build an Organisational Development Plan walks users through a series of four steps to identify where an NGO falls short and how to fashion a plan for improvement.
  • The Organisational Development Assessment Guide lists 13 important capabilities and helps users identify and prioritise a short list to meet current needs.

Please fill out the form below to download the resources. We use the information we collect to help us improve our reports and articles and to inform our funders about the impact of our work. We will never share your personal information with any third party without your permission.

Your input is extremely valuable to our future efforts, but if you'd rather not share your information, you can download PDFs of both the how-to and the assessment guide directly.
