Waiting game: Connie Duckworth spent months “pounding on USAID’s door”
Finding no traditional foundations that would invest in Afghanistan, Connie Duckworth turned to USAID for seed capital. “It takes 9–12 months to get a grant approved by USAID,” says Duckworth, who eventually secured funding.
