A strategy that has “served us well”: Roger Hertog says starting small and building over time has worked in his philanthropy
“The size of the grant for each philanthropic endeavor is very different,” notes Roger Hertog. Some philanthropic endeavors, such as stem cell, can absorb large grants, but “ideas” initially cannot. As a result, Hertog has learned to start slower.
