The Bridgespan Group Launches its First Podcast Focused on Equity in Leadership
The six-episode series celebrates the genius of BIPOC social sector leaders
Season 1 of “Dreaming in Color” celebrates the genius of these leaders through six candid kitchen table conversations with: the late Urvashi Vaid, President of The Vaid Group; Dr. Carmen Rojas Ph.D, President & CEO of the Marguerite Casey Foundation; Rhonda Broussard, Founder & CEO of Beloved Community; Ashindi Maxton, Co-Founder & Former Executive Director of Donors of Color Network; Nate Wong, Former Chief Strategy and Social Innovation Officer of Beek Center for Social Impact + Innovation; and Raymond Foxworth Ph.D., Vice President of First Nations Development Institute & Visiting Scholar at University of New Mexico.
"These conversations allow us to peek into the beautiful minds of some champions in the social justice and equity space," says Isom. "It's a powerful moment to reflect on their journeys and learn from the rich and nuanced paths that they as BIPOC leaders have taken to leadership and the unique skills they’ve developed along the way." Grounded in both his New Orleans roots and his experience as a queer Black leader in the social sector, Isom invites listeners to embrace these leaders’ ingenuity, learn from their wisdom and wit, reflect on their words with authenticity and humor, and listen with the intent to collectively strive to do better.
Available on Apple and Spotify, "Dreaming In Color" released its first two episodes on June 23rd, with weekly releases every Thursday. As a Bridgespan partner, Isom describes his work as shaping the trajectory of partnerships, building deep, enduring client relationships, creating bold yet pragmatic strategies, and amplifying community voice and engagement through innovative, high-impact youth and community programs, practices, and philanthropy. He also speaks and writes on racial equity in philanthropy. His recent publications include: “Endow Black-Led Nonprofits” (Stanford Social Innovation Review, 2021), and “Race and Place-based Philanthropy: Learnings from Funders Focused on Equitable Impact” (http://Bridgespan.org, 2021). As a graduate of Howard University, Institut d'Études Politiques de Paris, and Columbia Business School’s Institute for Nonprofit Management, Isom continues to be an activist for disconnected youth and LGBTQ communities of color and has served as an advisor to the leaders of several Bay Area, Southeast US, and national foundations.
