Partner, San FranciscoKathleen Fleming is a partner in Bridgespan’s San Francisco office. Since joining the firm in 2017, Kathleen has focused on supporting high-wealth individual philanthropists and family foundations in identifying and operationalizing their impact goals.Kathleen’s work has spanned a wide range of fields and geographies and has included strategy design, opportunity sourcing and vetting, grantee capacity support, portfolio impact assessment, and philanthropic operations.
In addition to her client work, she has researched and written about value-adding philanthropy approaches, including “From Capital to Connections: Aligning Donor Strengths With Nonprofit Needs” (Bridgespan.org, 2024); “The Trust-Based Philanthropy Conundrum: Toward Donor-Doer Relationships That Drive Impact” (Bridgespan.org, 2024); and “The Impact of Large, Unrestricted Grants on Nonprofits: A Five-Year View” (The Center for Effective Philanthropy, 2023).
Prior to joining Bridgespan, Kathleen was a manager at Bain & Company. Earlier in her career, she served as a program director for a nonprofit operating community-based primary care clinics in Haiti.
Kathleen received a BA magna cum laude from Brown University and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
